The Dolphin Hotel
We are a small, family owned and run hotel and we pride ourselves on our warm island hospitality.
We are a small, family owned and run hotel and we pride ourselves on our warm island hospitality.
Our hotel is only 700m east of the pier and a lovely 10 minute walk to the sandy Green Coast beaches of the East End. We are on the Cloonamore Looped Walk which features dramatic cliffs and coves with spectacular views of the Mayo and Connemara coast.
The hotel is named after a nobbie fishing boat from the 1920s called the ‘The Dolphin’, owned by Pat Davis from Westquarter, Pat’s grandfather. At that time about 10 of these boats fished out of Inishbofin. The original sail, lug lantern and compass can be seen in the Inishbofin Heritage Museum.
Designed to be in tune with nature, the lovely, curved restaurant is faced with recycled local stone, combined with weathered cedar to give an organic feel to the building. There are 2 outdoor deck areas for summer dining.
Our 3 downstairs rooms enjoy their own deck onto the landscaped garden. Energy efficient underfloor heating and 12 solar panels respect the environment, and we have a small organic kitchen herb garden.
We are proud of our island and do everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment.
