We encourage all our visitors to use public transport whenever possible, to minimise their carbon footprint. The island has an excellent bus service to the ferry port of Cleggan. At Inishbofin pier you will be met by Pat and shuttled to The Dolphin Hotel by minibus. This makes it easy to take public transport even if you have heavy bags with you.
Two sailings daily from Cleggan to Inishbofin Island all year round, three sailings in high summer.
Travel By Bus
Take the stress out of travelling. Cleggan port is serviced by Citylink buses on a frequent basis.
Travel By Rail
We would strongly encourage you to travel by rail. See Irish Rail link to timetables
Travel By Bike
Inishbofin is close to some fantastic long distance cycle networks such as the Great Western Greenway and the Connemara Loop. A long distance cycle path from Galway to Clifden is currently under construction. You could easily incorporate these routes into your visit to Inishbofin. Bikes are transported on the ferry for €5.
As an ecotourism destination the Dolphin Hotel offers you one of the greenest travel experiences on the island of Ireland. However, we would encourage you to off-set your associated carbon emissions by inviting you to SPONSOR A TREE and plant one on the island during your stay.
How to calculate your travel carbon footprint
The Dolphin Hotel uses a carbo calculator to measure its carbon footprint. You can too at:
