The Dolphin Eco Experiences
Our ecotourism experiences are all based mainly outdoors, immersed in the beautiful nature and scenery of Inishbofin, an SAC and an SPA because of its importance as a breeding site for the globally endangered corncrake.
Birdwatching courses involve full days of walking through unspoilt areas, including cliffs, beaches, hills and bogs. Lapwings, Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers and Common Sandpiper all breed here, as do terns and small numbers of Corncrakes and Choughs.
Some tours include a RIB trip to neighbouring islands of Inishturk or Inishark where participants may see Grey seals, Common and Bottlenosed dolphins, and many seabirds including Great Skua, Puffin, Razorbills. Courses are led by experienced bird watching guide, author and photographer, Anthony McGeehan.
The first Inishbofin Corncrake Festival takes place at The Dolphin Hotel this May Bank Holiday 3rd-6th May 2019.
This exciting new festival, the first of its kind in Ireland, aims to allow visitors to hear and see this iconic bird, while raising awareness of the plight of this endangered species.
